Merry Christmas

Today, the snow is back to Metro Vancouver again. I am not used to cold winter as my hometown barely snow in the winter and shanghai doesn't snow that much either. I feel super cold and get the running nose sometimes if I walk outside.

This is my first Christmas in Canada. I'm not a big fan of western holidays. I don't celebrate Halloween or Christmas at all when I was in China. My previous company had the tradition to organize parties for Halloween and Christmas, and we did exchange gifts or had secret Santa event, but I was not fancy about it.

I always feel difficult to pick up gifts for friends and family. I am not gifted in that way. It could be sometimes I care too much about others and I always feel afraid of letting them disappointed if I didn't choose the perfect thing. However, there is no such perfect thing exist in the world. Anyway, this morning, when I got up, my husband placed a gift bag on the kitchen counter. It is merry Christmas gift and I asked my husband where is this from? He told me , " oh, someone might place it wrong, the card address my neighbor's name." "I see..". I felt a bit sick this morning and didn't feel much energy to figure it out. Later, I texted my neighbor that their gift was at my apartment. She told me, it should be a gift bag from Maryann who is also our neighbor. She might just misplaced the card. " Ah, very interesting". I didn't know people in Canada offer the gift to neighbor's at Christmas. But I feel very welcomed in this way. I mean it's always nice to receive gift from someone surprisingly, right?

I unwrapped gift box and it is a box of Chocolate. How sweet Maryann is. The chocolate contains 3 different flavor , I tried two of them. Both of them are delicious. I am very touched when I read card Maryann wrote to us. Canadian are super nice in this way.

I was thinking about knitting something for my neighbors. I finished all of my projects, and feel like taking a break. My very last project was the alpaca neck warmer. I'd like to say I love alpaca, it feels so soft and nice. The frustrated way is that it is very hard to work with. It is very fluffy slim, as the beginner of knitting , you might want to avoid using it. I knit this neck warmer in the herringbone pattern, it turned out absolutely lovely. I love the quality, texture and pattern. I think alpaca yarn you can do much more with it. However, you might want knit with alpaca yarn when your knitting skill is mature.

Christmas is around the corner, I wish everyone you keep the warm in this cold winter, Spend quality time with your family and friends. Enjoy yourself by doing the things you love. I think I will treat myself some brand new yarn to figure out some simple and quick project for my neighbor Maryann. She is a nice lady that offer us sweet chocolate, she deserve some nice quality knitting project from my hand. I will sleep on it and rush to the Susan's yarn store tomorrow. :)
